This is an early aluminum Specimen, probably the fifteenth. The instrument was commissioned as one persons ideal dream instrument. It enjoyed all of the attributes of the other Specimen aluminum guitars, but had a Jazzmaster vibrato unit, a Musicmaster body silhouette proportioned to the size of a Jazzmaster, and a factory neck

There is a saying: The customer is always right. At that stage in my career, I honored the credo and submitted.
Occasionally Specimens resurface in strange places. Rumor had it that this guitar was being used in a routine where the performer wore a number of guitars strapped around his body. With his arms held up in the air, and all the guitars plugged in and cranked up through amps, the audience threw things at him to make the music. Needless to say, it was nice to get the guitar back and give it some much needed TLC. It now resides happily and appreciated in a fine Chicago home.
