This uke is an interpretation of the famous Martin uke profile. With a bolt-on neck and typical strings-through-plank design, this instrument is a versatile, manageable, and functional version of what is potentially one of the most frustrating appliances on earth: the ukulele.

Fret accuracy can be a problem on a scale length so short. While a violin’s pitch may be continuously “tempered” as it is played, a fretted ukulele can be its own worst enemy if frets are inaccurately placed and when proper string height at both ends of the scale isn’t optimal.
The rather straightforward, beautiful, and gut-bucket format of a Fender-style “string- through-design” faithfully applied to this small instrument makes the often elusive fine adjustments finally possible. The dream of the electric ukulele becomes a reality.
Incidentally, this instrument was commissioned by a Frenchman and I quite accidentally signed and serialized it on Bastille Day 2008. This design is so enchanting that I am proceeding with a “batch” of them; this is quite unusual for a Specimen model.
