Description

Our Electric Guitar Making Summer Camps offer the student a series of hands-on luthiery curriculums and guided hands-on work to get their own original custom electric guitar or bass, or any string instrument making project quickly underway.

No drawing, design or previous workshop experience is necessary.

Students will design, blueprint, and start making their own custom electric string instrument with instruction from an experienced luthier in a professional guitar workshop.

This is not a kit course. This course teaches how to design and make an electric guitar from raw materials and stock or custom hardware.

Seize this rare opportunity to make a successful first lap into a lifetime of Luthiery!

Fee includes instruction, course handbooks, shop training, use of a dedicated luthiery workbench and all tooling and shop supplies necessary.

  • Materials Purchases

Materials purchases are the responsibility of the student. Necessary materials costs range from $250. Many of the materials for this course are available through the school.

Upon registration, a phone conversation with the student will be necessary to determine materials so they can be acquired in time for the course.

  • Workshop Safety

While we make every effort to keep the CSGM workshop clean it can be dusty and at times noisy. We recommend hearing, respiratory, and eye protection be used when working in the shop. We have this safety equipment available for use or purchase when in class and it is the students responsibility to exercise diligent use of these safety measures.

Please note:

Students will work at their own pace and continued work outside this course may be necessary.

Most students will complete their first guitar within 100-125 hours.

While completing a guitar in under 100 hours is possible, it is unlikely. However students with developed workshop skills may find their work goes very quickly.

Students may choose to continue working on their instrument with instructor supervision at the school in our Open Workshops.
