The Specimen Archtop Electric Tenor Ukulele is now available in Kit form or fully finished and completely crafted by Ian Schneller, serialized as a Specimen in the ledger.
All parts of the kit are made in Chicago at the Humboldt Park location of Specimen Products, where we have been keeping the tradition of fine luthiery alive for 40 years!
The physical proportion may be small, but the sound of this instrument through an amp is every bit as robust as the most triumphant, full size battle axe. However, the delicate micro precision of the upper register is beauty to behold. The acoustic sound unplugged is also rather fulsome.

This African Mahogany ukulele kit is crafted inside and out with immaculate precision at Specimen in Chicago, Illinois.
The pickup is custom wound by Lindy Fralin on special custom made Specimen bobbins. The middle position dog ear single coil pickup is reminiscent of a 60’s era single pickup ES330 Gibson which is my favorite production instrument in the world.
You’ll find a beautifully fit mortice and tenon set neck joint. The fit and finish of the kit’s parts are superb.
this kit is geared toward builders who have experience with woodworking and some luthiery skills. There is a full size blueprint included with all of the relevant details for the build. All of the parts you will need are included in the kit with the exception of a few supplies and any customizations you choose to employ.
