This is one of the earliest Specimens. It was made around 1988. This guitar’s headstock seemed to prove a bit daunting for the average customer. Even so, the Albatross was featured and played by Al Jourgensen Ministry’s music video for the song “New World Order.” Buddy Guy also played it on his 1994 album Slippin’ In.
Made for no particular client, the instrument spent several years seemingly hanging around my neck — ”like the albatross in Coleridge’s “Rime of the Ancient Mariner.”
Finally, the Albatross was purchased. I haven’t seen it since and have no idea of its whereabouts.
