The XL Horn Speakers are an outgrowth from the Single Horn Speaker created a few years earlier. They have a more vertical posture and, therefore, a shorter footprint. Standing over 8-feet tall, this unique Patented design lends itself to both a front-loading and rear-loading of drivers.
These XL Horns are extraordinarily efficient and have an alarming bass response. Used with an Eminence Beta12CX driver with a crossover and attenuating compression driver, they are also ideal for PA applications.

The first XL Horn Speakers were purchased by Andrew Bird in October 2008. These speakers along with the Single Horn Speaker and the Janus Double Spinning Horn Speaker, are integral part of his music and performances.
In December 2009, Andrew used a second pair of these XL Horns for his highly-acclaimed Gezelligheid solo shows. In 2010 and 2012, he added a couple dozen Hornlings for another series of these shows. At these shows, Specimen Horn Speakers were Andrew's PA exclusively and the tonal and audio effect was outstanding.

In 2011, the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago acquired a pair in dark walnut and gold for use in their hotel lobby.
Specimen's XL Horn Speakers have graced the stages alongside Andrew Bird at the Newport Folk Festival, Austin City Limits, Carnegie Hall, Chicago's Lyric Opera House, Radio City Music Hall, Sydney Opera House, Hollywood Bowl, Chicago's Millennium Park, on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
In 2009, Specimen introduced the Little Horn Speakers, a 3-foot version of these XL speakers that can be used as stereo speakers.
