Specimen Guitar Shop, located in Chicago since 1984,
is on the city's near west side at 1240 N. Homan
Ave. This 4000 sq. ft. facility is home to our repair business,
our custom shop and the Chicago
School of Guitar Making.
- The focal point of the shop
is the custom-built workbench where we repair
stringed instruments, tube amplifiers, and
related equipment. Our expert service includes
setups, re-frets, nut jobs, pickup installation,
electronics repair, major restoration and more.
Specimen specializes in tube amplifier repair
including overhauls, tube installation, and
biasing. With our vast supply of new and vintage
parts, we can meet the most esoteric of requests. Click here

- Surrounding the workbench
is a full-service wood and metal shop where we
build our custom guitars, horn speakers, and tube amplifiers. At
any given time you can witness several custom
projects in the making. Also on hand are many
completed Specimens available for perusal and
purchase.

- For the past 20 years, Specimen has been Chicago's best resource for musicians. We welcome you to visit our shop anytime during business hours. We're open 12-7 pm, closed Sundays.
