Aluminum Tenor Guitar

Click on image to see detail.

Tenor Guitar.
This piece—made strictly on my own compulsion—can be considered either a baritone mandolin or a tenor guitar, depending on which side of the fence you sit. The fully resonant, hollow aluminum body makes the Tenor gratifying to play either acoustically or electrically.

The neck is made from purpleheart wood with a rosewood fretboard of 19-1/4" scale length. The bridge and tailpiece are machined from billets of aluminum. There is a single-coil pickup and a single volume control knob.

This Aluminum Tenor has a very rich and crispy tone—similar to that of a resonator guitar, but with much more sustain.
