An aluminum guitar and bass were commissioned by members of the band Tar. Some of their features included:

• 34" scale length

• Ebony fretboard

• Curly maple neck

• Split single-coil pickup

• Volume and tone control knobs

These instruments quickly became a visual signature for the band and won prominent feature on their album covers.

The band's popularity grew leading naturally to many more Aluminum guitars being commissioned from Specimen.

Aluminum Basses. These guitars were the first generation of Aluminums built at Specimen Products. They have the basic bolt-together aluminum body and bolt-on neck.

This custom aluminum bass features:

• 34" scale length

• Ebony fretboard

• Curly maple neck

• Two single-coil pickups

• Two volume knobs and one tone control

This custom bass is owned by Steve Lack of Veruca Salt.

** The Original Issue line of Specimen aluminum guitars feature a new headstock design (not pictured above).
