Tool Kit for
Guitar & Bass Electronics and Tube Amp Building
Workshops
In support of our Guitar & Bass Electronics and Tube Amplifier
Building workshops we are offering a
custom tool kit containing a special selection of
some tools needed for doing electronic repair,
general guitar repair and building, and amplifier
building. These tools are
the same used at the Specimen workshop every day
and represent a quality electronic tool
collection. Great care has gone into selecting
these specific tools based on years of trial and
error.
The
tool kit includes the following items:
|
 |
- Multimeter
- Resistor color code chart
- Soldering iron
- Soldering iron stand
- Desoldering tool
- 1 lb. high-quality solder
- Small needle nose pliers
- Wire cutter
- Wire stripper
- Toolbox
|
- The multimeter included in this kit was selected
for its outstanding capabilities and modest
price. It is a very good quality, true RMS
multimeter with 1000-volt DC measuring capability
and has a nice blue backlight. This multimeter
measures capacitance, temperature, and amperage
among other things. It has a range of measuring
values that make it suitable for working on any
tube amplifier as well the more usual
applications. Often these range capabilities are
accompanied by other less desirable functions
aimed at microprocessors making the units finicky
and unreliable for tube work. They are also
considerably more expensive than this unit. We
are glad to have found this model for our school.
-
- The toolbox included is large enough to hold all
of these tools plus a few more and a
sandwich. The cost of our tool kit
is $289 + tax (total $315).
-
- This tool kit purchase is by no means mandatory
as we provide all of these items for use in the
classroom, but we do recommend it as a sensible
acquisition for the serious student. We will also
be happy to accommodate those students who wish
to purchase only select items from this tool kit.
Such inquiries can be made during class time.
