Tube Amp Diagnostics II – Advanced Techniques
This seminar focuses on tube theory (with some very basic math) to determine wattage, tube parameters, and to get the most out of diagnostic equipment when dealing with tube circuits. The students will learn to use an oscilloscope in conjunction with a signal generator. They will also learn to use decibel meters, frequency counters, and modify tone. Fine details of sound will be demonstrated, explained and discussed. Modifications, advanced implementation of effects systems, and pro audio interfacing will round out the curriculum.
- Reading advanced schematic diagrams
- Deep signal flow
- Advanced testing
- Oscilloscope functions
- Tone modifications
- Decibel meter test functions
- Pro audio interfacing
- Repair vs. restoration / emergency preparedness
Prerequisite: It is recommended that students have completed Tube Amp Diagnostics I.
