Tube Amp Diagnostics & Repair 2 covers all of the information necessary to delve into the world of tube amp modifications and repairs, from the standpoint of the amp repair professional. This seminar offers a complete overview of advanced tube amp repair, modifications and diagnostic techniques. Students will gain a deep understanding of tube amp troubleshooting and repair, and will learn techniques to get the most out of diagnostic equipment when dealing with tube circuits. Pre-requisite: CSGM Tube Amp Diagnostics I – Fundamentals  or similar experience.

This seminar is formatted as part lecture, part demonstrations and Q & A. Lecture and demonstrations will range from emergency repairs to full restorations.  Lectures will cover tube theory, tube audio circuits, and repair and modification techniques. Demonstrations cover advanced diagnostic tools, testing and repair techniques and circuit modifications to achieve specific sound characteristics.

Topics include:

  • Schematic diagrams
  • Signal flow analysis
  • Advanced testing with diagnostic tools
  • Tone modifications
  • Repair vs. restoration
  • Pro audio interfacing
  • Emergency preparedness

Kye brings decades of experience as an amp and stage technician working for an impressive roster of clientele in Nashville, the mid-south and around the globe. Kye  teaches Amp Diagnostics exclusively at the Chicago School of Guitar Making. His extraordinary amp diagnostics curriculum is well thought out and lucid.
