Aluminum Guitar

This electric guitar is the loudest of Specimen's blocked-bridge aluminum models. It has an extremely broad frequency response, with subharmonics and overtones dancing around in fiery little rings inside.

I have been wanting to build this aluminum guitar for some time. The idea was finally brought to fruition for Alan Sparhawk of the band Low (pictured here). He liked the concept and wanted a mini-humbucker in the neck position.

Alan purchased this guitar after recording Low's album "Things We Lost in the Fire" with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio.

This Specimen aluminum guitar comes either with a stock Fender-style neck (pictured here) or with a custom Specimen neck that features a non-adjustable steel reinforcement and our special 6-on-a-side headstock design. Pricing for a stock neck is listed below. A custom Specimen neck is an additional $800.

Neck: Maple
Scale length: 25-1/2"
Fretboard: Rosewood
Body: Aluminum
Pickups: Mini-humbucker neck pickup, Lindy Fralin bridge pickup
Controls: One volume and tone control, three-way selector switch
